My Emmy Nominees

These are my Emmy picks - not predictions of who will be nominated, but who I think should be nominated.  This is who I deem worthy, Academy be damned.  But try as a I might, I just can't watch every show.

Comedy Show
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine - I watch it and it's alright.
  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - I do like a musical comedy and they did a song called 'Heavy Boobs'.
  • The Goldbergs - Why not?  It's not an Academy favorite but I'll go with the nostalgia factor which keeps me interested.
  • The Muppets - Goddamn you for ruining this for me, ignorant people of America.
  • Scream Queens - It is hysterically shocking and horrifying and then they gruesomely kill people.
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Not as good as season 1, but better than almost everything else.

Comedy - Actress
  • Rachel Bloom, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Great songs plus she's daring and puts it all out there.
  • Jamie Lee Curtis, Scream Queens - Emma deserves it more.
  • Ellie Kemper, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - She got robbed last year  #hashbrownyousuck
  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep - But someone else should win.  You have enough.
  • Wendi McLendon-Covey, The Goldbergs - She isn't Jewish and doesn't have kids - now that's acting!
  • Emma Roberts, Scream Queens - She is the second most evil and glorious bitch on TV - Queen Cersei rules!
Comedy - Actor
  • Aziz Ansari - Master of None - A weak category but not a bad show.
  • Will Forte, The Last Man on Earth - Bordering creepy at all times but still funny.
  • Jeff Garlin, The Goldbergs - Not just because I saw him at the Cubs game.
  • Timothy Omundsen, Galavant - I'm really strapped for worthy dudes.
  • Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Still cool.
  • Jeffrey Tambor, Transparent - I don't think this show is a comedy, but he's good.

Comedy - Supporting Actress
  • Donna Lynne Champlin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - She's the not-so-sensible best friend of batshit crazy.
  • Anna Chlumsky, Veep - Not just because she's My Girl.
  • Carol Kane, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Also criminally ignored last year.
  • Jane Krakowski, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Cousin Vicky deserves a career win.
  • Kristen Schaal, Last Man on Earth - SO awkward and uncomfortable.
  • Sofia Vergara, Modern Family - She should get a win before it's over.

Comedy - Supporting Actor
  • Andre Braugher, Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Why not?
  • Tituss Burgess, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Always amazing.
  • Jere Burns, Angie Tribeca - I love this guy in everything!
  • Jaime Cavil, Jane the Virgin - The heart and the self-obsessed crazy of the show.
  • Ed O'Neill, Modern Family - He deserves an eventual win.
  • Glen Powell, Scream Queens -  He is an amazingly clueless, idiotically dumb jock.

Holy Shit Thought:  The Odd Couple got a second season?!?

Undeniable refusal:  I loved The Muppets as a show but refuse to acknowledge those hideous, non-original voices for Emmy rewards.

What I don't watch:  Silicon Valley, Mozart in the Jungle, Black-ish, Shameless, Mom, House of Lies, Portlandia, Inside Amy Schumer, The Mindy Project, Getting On,

What I'm totally over (even though I watch it):  Girls, Modern Family, Transparent, Big Bang Theory, New Girl

Drama - Show
  • The Affair - It's unraveling for every character very nicely.
  • Game of Thrones - Finally, shit is going down.  War of the Women!
  • House of Cards - A much better season with an election at risk.
  • Mr. Robot - Not that I ever completely understood what was going on, I do feel pretty cool for almost getting some of it.
  • Orange is the New Black - Certainly a big let-down after a stellar season but not as bad after the second viewing.
  • The Walking Dead - This is the only show I try to watch live, so that has to mean something.

Drama Actress
  • Viola Davis, How to Get away with Murder - How many murders can you get away with?  Hallucinations - UGH?!!?   And it's hard to choose what letters to capitalize.
  • Tatiana Maslany, Orphan Black - There is no doubt that her 7 characters run rings around everyone.
  • Krysten Ritter, Jessica Jones - A tough girl with a sad story - if only we could all jump like that.
  • Taylor Schilling, OITNB - She showed some development and moments of badassery.
  • Kerry Washington, Scandal - This character has been through A LOT!
  • Robin Wright, House of Cards - She's been robbed in the past - I think it's her year.

Drama - Actor
  • Kyle Chandler, Bloodline - It's fun to watch him drop F-bombs as his life unravels.
  • Andrew Lincoln, The Walking Dead - He kills, he cries, he's tender, he's furious - he goes through far more emotions than all of these actors combined.
  • Rami Malek, Mr. Robot - He's so weird and strange - and I'm trying really hard to get it.
  • Liev Schrieber, Ray Donovan - The character is learning the reasons behind his taciturn nature and promiscuity (living in LA?).
  • Kevin Spacey, House of Cards - It's his to win since Jon Hamm finally got one.
  • Dominic West, The Affair - I've gotten used to Idris Elba, but Jimmy McNulty can never speak with a British accent.

Drama Supporting Actress

  • Uzo Aduba, OITNB - She's a constant bright point and she had new pain after V died.
  • Danielle Brooks, OITNB - She's the Mom now and it's time to be recognized.
  • Lena Headey, Game of Thrones - She is the Queen of all badasses.
  • Melissa McBride, The Walking Dead - A character who is constantly changing and adapting and changing again - isn't that what good acting is?  Get over the zombie shit!
  • Maura Tierney, The Affair - She is just a mess and it's awesome.
  • Constance Zimmer, UnReal - Nailed it, but has she ever played a different character?

Drama - Supporting Actor
  • Jonathan Banks, Better Call Saul - He is the only reason I watch this sub-par show that everyone is way too enamored with.
  • Peter Dinkalage, Game of Thrones - He's always solid.
  • Joel Kinnamon, House of Cards - The dude is Swedish and plays an entitled, American douchebag awesomely.
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan, The Good Wife - Yeah, his George Clooney-ness won me over - I'm not perfect.
  • Christian Slater, Mr. Robot - It might be more for nostaglia's sake, but who cares?
  • David Tennant, Jessica Jones - He was a great and terrible villain

What I don't watch or am not up-to-date on:  Outlander, The X Files, The Americans, Billions, The Blacklist, Bates Motel, Empire, Daredevil

What I'm totally over (even though I watch it):  Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, Homeland, The Leftovers, Nashville

Guest Actress -  Comedy
  • Anna Camp, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - She certainly gets typecast as an uppity, white, privileged bitch, but it works.
  • Tina Fey, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Because I have to.
  • Melora Hardin, Transparent - She provided the only moment I laughed all season.
  • Lisa Kudrow, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Trapped in the 90's, just like her daughter, but scarred in different ways.
  • Jenny Slate, Girls - I like her in everything.  She has a fun voice.
  • Michaela Watkins, Transparent - She is doing dramatic acting in this dramatic show.

Guest Actor - Comedy

  • Christopher Abbott, Girls -  Charlie's back and is a male prostitute/pimp addicted to drugs?
  • Michael Cera, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp - A bright spot in a rough show.
  • Peter McNichol, Veep - Everyone loves this guy.  And now he's mean and swears!
  • Jason Mantzoukas, Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Rafi's a better character, but what can you do?
  • Bob Newhart, The Big Bang Theory - He's Bob fucking Newhart.  Give him whatever he wants.
  • Peter Scolari, Girls - I love his midlife crisis/journey of exploration.

Guest Actress - Drama
  • Ellen Burstyn, House of Cards - Icy bitches have icy, bitchy mothers.
  • Stockard Channing, The Good Wife - I love a good grift.
  • Judy Greer, Masters of Sex - Judy, Judy, Judy...
  • Nathasha Lyonne, OITNB - Trusting Luschek - rookie mistake.
  • Colbie Minifie, Jessica Jones - Annoying and crazy!  Two-fer!
  • Carrie Preston, The Good Wife - Give Elsbeth a spin-off.

Guest Actor - Drama
  • Dominic Cooper, Agent Carter - I like his accent and joie de vivre.
  • Gregg Henry, Scandal - Trump modeled his campaign after this guy.
  • John Carroll Lynch, The Walking Dead - Stupid Morgan got the cheesemaker killed.
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan, The Walking Dead - The buildup was worth it.
  • Pablo Schrieber, OITNB - A little bit of Pornstache goes a long way.
  • BD Wong, Mr. Robot - It's a total What the Fuck was that scene.
